Muses in the Vineyard is a festival of music, of the women, by the women and for EVERYONE. Foul Rift Productions, Inc. is pleased to announce this years event is May 18, 2013.
Foul Rift Productions, Inc. is the younger but bigger sibling of Folk on Foul Rift House Concerts. With some success at bringing together good people and great live music in an intimate backyard or living room series, we have autonomously incorporated FRP with a two-pronged eye toward expanding the availability of quality live music to the public and expanding venue opportunities for artists who are increasingly reliant on live venues to support their craft in light of the shrinking revenues from recording.
It is our intent to develop and promote such opportunities via alternative venues including perhaps listening rooms, theater series, festivals and the like. We are incorporated in NJ as a non-profit with 501(c)(3) pending
All net proceeds will be to the benefit of the local fundraising effort “Angels for Mark” which actively works toward a cure for degenerative retinal diseases.

As promised, we've got the full Monty of a musical line-up and a creative vendor list to get your wine glasses a-swirlin’. Oh, and don't forget our 12-Wine Tastings and Vineyard Hay Rides!! But let’s hear it for our compelling jazz bands that stretch from Washington, D.C. to New York City: Joshua Walker Quartet, Theory of Everything, Kim Reynolds Quartet, New Legacy Jazz Band, and Laissez Foure! We can’t wait to start off our wine season with a BANG!! >insert drum roll!<
But what's a wine and jazz festival without the food! Joining us is Red Hook Lobster Truck, Uncle Fred's BBQ, Wood Fired Pizza, Olio Tasting Room, and Gourmet Creations of Virginia (Norton and Viognier sorbet!) exclusively made for Chrysalis Vineyards! We hope that with these delicious selections will compliment the favors of all of our palettes.
Last, but not least - our unique artisans! All hailing from areas of Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia, we're psyched to have Unwined Candle Company, recently featured at The 26th Country Music Awards, Muraho's fair trade woven baskets and bowls, Printed Wild hand painted pillows and home accessories inspired by nature, Rustic Décor handmade wooden products, Elefant People's eclectic photography and vintage framed prints, free spirited Tail Feather Jewelry, and Zapata Dreamers dream catchers from NYC!
The festival will take place Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th from 10am – 6:30pm both days. So be sure to pencil us in! As always, this is a 2-day rain-or-shine event that caters to great music, gourmet food and unique artisans.
Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance, per person, so make sure to call us in ahead. Designated drivers and children are $10. And of course, VIP Club members get to attend for FREE!

White Zinfandel
White Zinfandel is an off-dry to sweet, pink-colored Rosé wine. White Zinfandel is made from the Zinfandel wine grape, which would otherwise produce a bold and spicy red wine. As such, it is not a grape variety, but a method of processing Zinfandel grapes. It has gained immensely in popularity since the 1980s. White Zinfandel is light and sweet. It is the perfect wine in some situations - say a hot summer day with a crisp fruit salad. It's also a great way for non-wine-drinkers to get used to the flavors in wine, without being put off by a heavily tannic monster wine.

Ridge history begins in 1886 when Osea Perrone, a doctor from northern Italy, bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge, on the San Francisco peninsula. He planted grapes on top of the ridge, and on its steep southern slopes, at the same time constructing his Monte Bello winery. Limestone cellars built into the hillside on two levels became the foundation of a large redwood building, where Perrone produced the first Monte Bello wines in 1892. Today, Ridge uses the historic winery for production and aging. Almost half of the surrounding acreage, abandoned during Prohibition, has been replanted; this is our "upper" vineyard. In the 1940s, a retired theologian who loved farming as much as he loved fine wine, bought the adjoining Torre winery and its former vineyard. William Short replanted eight of the forty-eight acres to cabernet sauvignon and a small amount of chardonnay. In 1959, this 2300' "middle" vineyard was purchased by the Ridge founders as a weekend retreat for their families. One of the group, Dave Bennion, appropriated a small amount of that year's fruit, and produced the first "Ridge" Monte Bello cabernet. The exceptional quality of that wine inspired the founding families; they reopened the Torre winery as Ridge Vineyards in time for the 1962 vintage. By 1968, they had purchased the Perrone property. Paul Draper joined the group as winemaker in 1969; in 1971, he moved production to the old Monte Bello winery. During the seventies, Ridge worked with the Schwabacher family to replant the nineteenth-century cabernet vineyards on their land further down the mountain, and in 1978 these young plantings produced the first Jimsomare Cabernet. In 1996, Ridge took over the Jimsomare vines, integrating them with Monte Bello as the "lower" vineyard. We select grapes from the more than thirty separate parcels on the lower, middle, and upper to make our Monte Bello, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Home Ranch wines.
These vines have now produced over forty vintages of Ridge Monte Bello, whose ability to develop complexity with age is unmatched in California, and recognized worldwide.
