Norton
In 1835, Dr. Daniel Norton of Virginia developed this grape varietal that was originally known as the Virginia Seedling. Widely planted in the Midwest (where it is sometimes called Cynthiana), it has become a source of interest to East Coast vintners in recent years. It produces a dark, inky wine with flavors of plums and cherries. Horton Vineyards in Virginia is particularly interested in reviving the grape's reputation. In the South, look for Norton (or Cynthiana) from Moonrise Bay, Mountain Valley, Three Sisters, Tiger Mountain and Tennessee Valley.

For 20 years, we have been handcrafting fine wines. Each vintage is small and select, a labor of skill and love. Tradition is the foundation of our culture and our wines are made in the way handed down through generations. Our goal is to create the finest, most enjoyable wines. Wines that capture the essence of the friendship and joy that went into each step of the process.
Each year the demand for the wine has increased and we've increased the volume. The demand from family, friends and a growing circle of wine aficionados continues to drive larger output. Also each year our skills and experience increased, we chose better grapes, bought better equipment and refined our process, resulting in better vintages.
On April 30, 2006, we released our first commercially available vintage, a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon. Made from the finest grapes from the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, California, only approximately 6,000 bottles will be available. The wine will primarily be available to members of the Black Rock Vintners Wine List and sold and delivered direct.
