Auxerrois
French local name for the Malbec, aka Cot red wine grape species grown in the Cahors region of France and also, confusingly, an important white wine grape in the Alsace region called the Auxerrois Blanc that is distinct from another locally grown white wine grape called the Auxerrois Gris that is actually the Pinot Gris varietal grape.

Boorman Vineyards is one of So. California’s newest bonded wineries! We are located on the Santa Rosa Plateau, at the south end of the Santa Margarita Mountains just before they drop down into the De Luz/Fallbrook area. Our estate winery and vineyards sit at an elevation of 2000 ft. in mountainous, decomposed granite soil which is very conducive to growing our premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. We are striving to produce the finest red wines in all of So. Calif. by using state of the art equipment along with the perfect blend of French & American Oak barrels. A very efficient production facility with attention to quality , and small - lot fermentations make it possible to have the unique and desired control not seen in large scale “big guy” wineries. We are very fortunate to have neighbors who have also shown interest in growing premium red grapes. In the spring of 2000, Merlot & Petit Verdot were planted on the property adjacent to our estate vineyards. The grapes from these vineyards are under my care & management, making it easy to monitor crop size, quality and optimal time for harvest. Several other new vineyards have also recently been planted in our area. We look forward to Malbec, Dolcetto and Barbera , which will soon be coming into production. Our goal in the coming years is to offer 4 or 5 different varietals along with a signature Bordeaux blend, using only the finest oak barrel selection for making our limited reserve. Total winery production will be limited to 1500 cases per year due to space considerations and the desire for quality control. All wines are produced on - site. We take pride in the “fruits of our labor“ and have a passion for true hands-on winemaking. Looking into the future, Boorman Vineyards is excited and challenged by an ever growing marketplace that is getting increasingly more difficult for the “little guy“ to find room . We intend to meet this challenge by producing elegant wines and remaining a small hand-crafted winery with attention to quality and detail. I believe the people of So. Calif. deserves nothing less than outstanding wine and we’re here to make sure that is exactly what they get!
