Bunnell Family Cellar

Three generations share life at RiverAerie, our farm on the Yakima River. Our small family wine cellar is buried into the hillside adjacent to our first lavender plot. The underground barrel chai provides the constant temperature necessary to age our fine handmade wines. Winemaker Ron Bunnell specializes in vineyard designated Syrah, Mourvédre, and Rhone style blends, as well as limited releases of proprietary blends. We produce two distinct lines of wines. “vins de l’endroit” or “wines of a place” include Syrah based wines from Boushey-McPherson, Clifton Hill, Stonetree and Vigne de Marcoux vineyards as well as the unique Northridge Vineyard Mourvédre. Long-term relationships with exceptional growers will allow future expansion of the “vins de l’endroit” category to include other selected vineyard designated wines, such as Discovery Vineyard Syrah from Horse Heaven Hills. Our second line we call “vins de l’esprit.” These wines of the imagination or creative spirit allow our winemaker free reign to explore artistic expression through blending. “vins de l’esprit” are proprietary blends of classic vinifera grape varieties but not necessarily traditional blends.

Directions
From Prosser, Exit 80 on Interstate 82, go north on Gap Rd. The next intersection is a four way stop. Turn right onto Johnson Rd., go to the next stop sign. At the stop sign there is a small market, the North Prosser Market. Continue straight through the stop sign. The road becomes the Old Inland Empire Highway (OlE). Travel about five miles on OlE until you reach a 35 mph zone•. OlE will curve left. Make a right turn in the curve onto Hess Rd. Continue on Hess. it will curve left also in about a mile (no choice but to turn). After the curve, there are two private roads with signs on the right hand side, ours is the second one (134 PR). Turn right onto 134 PR and go slowly. to the end. Cross a small bridge. After the bridge, take the last right hand turn. The winery is directly ahead. There is a marker at the property entrance which reads 87203.
