Stony Knoll Vineyards Stony Knoll Vineyards are lifted high on the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains against a Carolina sun that creates a bouquet of aromatic wonders and pleasures. The development of a "delivering terroir" began on this "North Carolina Century Farm" in 1896 when the ancestors of Kathy Coe bought a tract of land in southern Surry County. In the early 1940s the vineyard area was cleared with hand tools and domesticated animals and put into cultivation. Tobacco production was the staple cash crop for many years. The importance of this staple crop caused the Coe lineage to care for the land at the utmost level. Hard work during sun drenched days and winter chilled climates prevailed in a terroir creation which has enabled this vineyard to produce fine quality wine grapes. Stony Knoll Vineyard's first harvest took place in the fall of 2002. We have planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Syrah and all should be ready for our next harvest and available for purchase in 2004. You will then be able to purchase our wines from this website, local vendors, restaurants and our winery. Our Winery is open on Saturdays from 10 am until 6 pm and on Sundays from 2 pm until 6 pm and during the week, private tastings are offered by appointment.   Ardella Blanc
White sweet wine crafted from an American native grape that boasts a bouquet for the memory and a palate and finish for enjoyment.
  Barrel Fermented Chardonnay
his wine is a direct expression of the winemaker's use of malolactic fermentation after careful oak barrel fermentation. Aged in french oak barrels. Great shrimp and oyster wine.
  Cabernet Franc
A light bodied dry wine with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah grapes. Clean and refreshing finish made from 100% Stony Knoll grapes. Goes well with lamb chops, lean beef, veal, liver, turkey, tuna, pizza, and medium cheeses.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
A crisp full bodied wine made from 100% Stony Knoll Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This estate red wine has a nice bouquet with a good finish and goes well with steak, duck, goose, Mexican, spicy food, and venison.
An estate wine with 100% Chardonnay grapes; barrel fermented and aged 10 months in barrels made from the most prominent French Oak forest. The toasty, roasted cinnamon taste makes this a good sipping wine. Goes incredibly well with deserts, seafood, chicken, and turkey.
A medium bodied wine made from 100% Stony Knoll grapes. Great with a filet and array of red meat dishes. A good balanced dry wine.
  Vintage Chardonnay (stainless / unoaked)
Carefully crafted vintage using 100% Chardonnay grapes grown by attentively thinning the canopy and closely managing the vineyard. This wine was aged in stainless steel; has a lot of green apple crispness. Tastes great with flounder and other seafood.
