Cave Vineyard

Cave Vineyard Cave Vineyard is a family owned establishment. It derives its name from the Saltpeter Cave, located on the property. The vineyard was established in 2001 and is tended to by our family to produce wine that we hope brings your family and friends together. The tasting room offers the opportunity to sample our fine wines and purchase hand crafted quilts and products from local artisans. Share a bottle of wine in our natural cave wine cellar or enjoy our tasting room view overlooking the beautiful rolling hills of Ste. Genevieve. Summer Hours: Open 11 am – 6 pm; Closed Tuesday. Winter Hours: Open 11 am – 5 pm; Closed Tuesday.

Directions
Exit #150 off I-55, go West on HWY 32 and take an immediate left onto HWY B. Continue 6 miles and turn left onto HWY P. Continue on HWY P 2 miles and turn right onto Cave Road. Continue 2 miles to Cave Vineyard.

Chambourcin
A full bodied dry wine. It produces a fruity aroma with hints of cocoa.

Chardonel Dry
A full bodied dry wine that has been oak barrel aged. It produces a fresh fruity taste on the palette. A pear aroma is presented on the nose.

Chardonel Dry
A dry wine that has been oak barrel aged. It produces a fresh taste on the palette with a light buttery finish. A flowery peach and pear aroma is presented on the nose.

Chardonel Late Harvest
A full bodied sweet dessert wine with a complex nose. It presents flavors of dried apricot, figs, and raisin with a hint of spice.

Chardonel Off Dry
An off dry fresh white wine with exotic fruit flavors of pineapple, dried apricot, and coconut.

Chardonel Sweet
Chardonel Sweet wine is fresh and fruity. It presents aromas of peach and pear with a hint of lemon. It goes well with a variety of foods and can also be enjoyed alone.

Concord
Concord is a sweet red wine that allows the true flavor of the grape to be expressed.

Norton
This Native American grape produces a full bodied wine with hints of black cherry. Our Norton has been oak barrel aged and goes perfectly with red meat and pasta.

Traminette
Our Traminette grape produced a light bodied sweet wine with hints of spice and licorice. It pairs perfectly with spicy dishes.

White Chambourcin
A sweet rose wine produced from Chambourcin grapes. It is fresh and fruity with hints of raspberry on the palette

Norton Wine Review: A good Norton wine, but average as compared to other Missouri Norton examples. Cave Vineyard wines are named for the owners and labeled as "Strussione Wines". Strangely, there were slight hints in this award winning Norton wine of "sour" overtones, as you would expect in some wines found in states located in more Southern latitudes. A great setting to leisurely drink a wine in a natural cave which you could walk 200 yards to or have someone take you in Cave Vineyards' shuttle. If you wished to talk to the owner and learn personally of his wine endeavors, you had to overcome a thick cloud of cigar smoke that surrounded him during our visit. But my wife reminds me to state that he did sit and talk when other wine proprietors did not. . . ., nice personal touch.
