It has been said that the B¬52s are as quintessentially American as the Beach Boys. Twenty¬-five years and over twenty million albums into their career, the B¬52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever. Formed on an October night in 1976 following drinks at an Athens, GA, Chinese restaurant, the band played their first gig at a friend’s house on Valentine’s Day in 1977. Naming themselves after Southern slang for exaggerated ‘bouffant” hairdos, the newly ¬christened B¬52s (Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson and Ricky Wilson) began weekend road trips to New York City for gigs at CBGB’s and a handful of other venues. In just two albums, the B¬52s created a lexicon of songs, styles, phrases and images, which would set the standard for the development of the ‘alternative music scene’ for the next decade. Following the loss of founding member Ricky Wilson in 1985, the group rebounded with their triumphant 1989 smash Cosmic Thing, which spawned the Top 10 hits “Love Shack” and “Roam.” The album proved to be the greatest commercial achievement for the group, and its success propelled the band to international superstars. The B¬52s advanced their reputation as the greatest party band on the planet to a whole new generation of music fans. Funplex, the first record of the 21st century from the B¬52s is “loud, sexy rock and roll, with the beat pumped up to hot pink,” says guitarist Keith Strickland.
Concert Series - Blondie & Pat Benatar
Wente Vineyards Estate Winery
From Thursday, July 02, 2009 To Thursday, July 02, 2009
$99 Terrace Seating — $149 Orchestra Seating — $179 Mezzanie Dining — $199 Outdoor Dining $219 Premium Dining — $269 Restaurant Dining — $289 Front Row Dining. nducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Blondie emerged as the great pop icons of New York’s celebrated late ‘70s new wave punk scene by defying easy categorization. The original Blondie was formed in 1974 by art student/guitarist Chris Stein and ex-¬folkie and ex¬-Max’s Kansas City waitress, vocalist/songwriter Deborah Harry. Drummer Clem Burke and keyboard player Jimmy Destri joined in 1975. The band played the fabled New York downtown circuit of CBGB’s, Max’s Kansas City and Mothers, amassing a major following before recording their first album Blondie in 1976. Blondie had their first number one record in the U.S. with “Heart of Glass,” with the album, Parallel Lines, moving more than 20 million copies worldwide. By April of 1980, they scaled the U.S. charts a second time with “Call Me,” from the Paul Schrader film, American Gigolo. The band produced The Hunter in 1982, their final U.S. hit before Chris was felled by a rare and often fatal genetic disease, which led to a sudden hiatus for the group. Sixteen years later, responding to a request, the group reformed to play a concert and found so much chemistry remaining, they decided to try to make some new music. No Exit was a perfect, up¬-to-date evolution of Blondie, ¬a great collection of perfectly crafted pop songs. In 2008, Blondie celebrated its 30 ¬year anniversary of Parallel Lines with a re-¬release of the iconic album that gave the band their first number one hit in the U.S. Debbie is rightfully proud of the band’s hard work and accolades: “The guys have gotten really good at what they do. I mean, they always were good players and songwriters, but I think now you could say they’re accomplished.”

Ballast Point Brewing Company

Ballast Point Brewing Company is one of San Diego's Premiere Breweries. We started out modestly as Home Brew Mart in 1992. Our goal was to teach others how to brew quality handcrafted beer at home. In 1996 the brewery was installed by New World Brewing Systems in the space behind our retail store and production began in September. In May of 2005 we open our second brewery in Scripps Ranch. We currently distribute five of our favorite beers, Yellowtail Pale Ale, Calico Amber Ale , Big Eye I.P.A., Black Marlin Porter and Wahoo Wheat Beer to a thirsty San Diego. Come to our brewery and we will gladly give you a tour and allow you to sample our newest selection of beers.
