Syrah Clary Ranch Vineyard & Hummingbird Hill Vineyards - Sonoma Coast

Syrah Clary Ranch Vineyard & Hummingbird Hill Vineyards - Sonoma Coast Wine Details
Price: $45.00 per bottle

Description: Each of these two vineyards gives characteristics to the final blend that synergistically meld into a complexity, depth, and richness that is unusual for Syrah. Hummingbird Hill fruit provides ripe blackberry flavor and a viscous mouth feel, while Clary fruit provides low pH (3.39), white pepper, a blueberry component and overall finesse. Elements of this wine remind us of the cold northern Rhtne region of France, yet it has a fullness and elegance that says California. This duplicity is what makes wines from the Sonoma Coast so unique.

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
