Optima

Optima Wine Details
Price: $13.95 per bottle

Description: When grown primarily on cool sites in British Columbia, Optima achieves better balance, one reason why awarding winning dessert wines have been made by several wineries. Both Quails' Gate and Domaine de Chaberton have had the good fortune in some vintages to have botrytis and so-called noble rot among their Optima Grapes. This contributes honey and tobacco flavours, adding richness to the aroma and taste of the wines.

Varietal Definition
Optima:
Recent crossing of Riesling and Sylvaner grape with the Muller-Thurgau. Widely grown in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region of Germany and used for blending purposes in the white wines of the region.
