Rabbit Ridge Paso Robles Brunello Sangiovese

Rabbit Ridge Paso Robles Brunello Sangiovese Wine Details
Price: $14.00 per bottle

Description: Sangiovese is the primary grape varietal used in the world famous Chianti blend of Italy's Tuscany region. This Sangiovese was made from grapes grown on our Cristalla vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles, California. For optimum grape quality, we planted the vines 3 feet by 6 feet, and maintain low picking yields of under 2 tons per acre. Our Paso Robles Sangiovese is grown on Brunello clone scion imported from Pertimalli, in Montalcino, Italy. It has exceptional fruit, complexity, aging characteristics and intense aromas. Enjoy pleasant flavors of raspberry, plum, and toasty vanilla.

Varietal Definition
Brunello:
This strain of Sangiovese is the only grape permitted for Brunello di Montalcino, the rare, costly Tuscan red that at its best is loaded with luscious black and red fruits and chewy tannins.
Sangiovese:
Sanguis Jovis, the Latin origin for the varietal name, literally means “blood of Jove.” Sangiovese is one of the oldest known varietals and it is likely that ancient Etruscan winemakers cultivated it, although the first literary reference to Sangiovese was in 1722. Sangiovese is probably indigenous to Tuscany, whose most famous wine is Chianti. Chianti is a blend that currently contains a minimum of 90% Sangiovese.Sangiovese thrives in hot dry climates. Because these climatic criteria generally enhance quantity, rather than quality, it takes careful cultivation and winemaking techniques to produce really excellent wine from this grape.
