Winemaker’s Series Soft Chenin Blanc

Winemaker’s Series Soft Chenin Blanc Wine Details
Price:

Description: Our Soft Chenin Blanc has all of the delicate pear and melon aromas present in freshly picked Chenin Blanc grapes. To preserve this fresh fruit character, we cold ferment the juice and then stop the fermentation to retain a high level of natural residual sugar. This wine tastes sweet and rich, with abundant fruit flavors and a clean, crisp finish. Serve well chilled with fruit and cheese, light desserts or alone as a delightful aperitif. Chuck Devlin, Winemaker

Varietal Definition
Chenin Blanc:
Classic white varietal of France's Loire Valley and now grown throughout the world. Known for its rather unusual 'wet-wool', 'damp straw' aromas, it tends to be more floral than fruity when young and gives high acidity, growing well in marginal climates. It ages well and its susceptibility to 'botrytis'* produces some of the great sweet wines of the Loire, for example Quarts de Chaume and Vouvray. It is grown widely in South Africa where it is known as 'Steen'.
