StarView Vineyards

StarView Vineyards StarView Vineyards is a family operation. Kate and Scott Sensmeier bought an existing vineyard and with the help of family and friends, spent the past year transforming the vineyard and building a new retail to sell their new wines and host events. In 2005, StarView Vineyards became the eighth winery on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Come sample wines and tour the vineyards where seven varieties of grapes grow on just under 6 acres at StarView vineyards, including: Norton, Chambourcin, Niagara, Chardonel, Vignoles, Concord. Each vine is meticulously pruned by hand and the vines are individually nurtured to produce the highest quality of fruit. At harvest time, only the most perfect grapes are harvested by hand. All of the hard work has paid off and we are starting our medal collection!! Our award winning, hand crafted wines are blended onsite we hope you have an opportunity to sample them all. If you can't make it to the vineyard, call and ask about having us ship wine to you. The laws change frequently, so we may or may not be able to ship our wines to you.

  Chambourcin
Silver - 2006 Indy Wine Champion, Bronze - 2006 IL State Fair. This exceptional wine, was lightly oaked and is medium bodied with very deep color and characteristic varietal flavor. This blend of Chambourcin produced a wine that is lovely with aged cheeses, antipasto, and spicy foods.
  Chardonel
Our Chardonel is un-oaked so you can taste the bright and flavorful Chardonel grapes. Pale golden yellow color. Aromas of toasty fruit toffee and baked pear follow through on a round, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body with a touch of caramel apple. Finishes with peach and lemon water accented fade. BTI awarded this wine Highly Recommended.
  Concord
Very smooth and wonderful deep amethyst color that is as fragrant as the vineyard in summertime. This wine is reminiscent of the wines made on farms and enjoyed on back porches for generations. Ours is delightfully jammy but not overly sweet.
  Moonlight White
A blend of white wine grapes that together create a luscious sweet wine that has melon flavors and kiwi notes; this wine is a wonderful sipping wine, enjoy it chilled.
  Norton
Norton is a regional favorite. Nortons are very hearty grapes and produce a wine that is bold, rich, and well suited to oaking and aging. We've released our Norton for you to enjoy now and to cellar and enjoy in years to come. This balanced wine is rounded and has subtle flavors of coffee and chocolate coming through.
  Red Giant
Just released in December 2009. Vinted with a new varietal, Noirette. Red Giant has wonderful tannin structure and flavors of raspberry and licorice. A wonderful new varietal that is being introduced in the region!

The Chambourcin grapes in this wine have been blended to produce a big, rich and smooth sweet wine with Sweet, jammy grape and vanilla aromas. A round entry leads to a sweet medium-bodied palate with ripe grape and blackberry flavors. Finishes with a pleasant ripe berry fade. Not overly complicated but very pleasant. It is best enjoyed at a lower temperature. It is a wine that can be paired with mostly any foods or enjoyed on its own.
