Milano Vineyards & Winery

Milano Vineyards & Winery The Milano Family Winery is located in an original, old Hop Kiln, near the Russian River just south of the town of Hopland in Southern Mendocino County. Selecting the finest grapes from local vineyards we produce hand crafted, limited bottlings of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Port. Our winery is small enough so that we can pamper each individual barrel. We invite you to visit our tasting room and share these and other rare bottlings from our Cellar. We are happy to tour you through our working winery, please call for an appointment.

  1997 Echo
Bordeaux Blend of 50% Cabernet, 29% Merlot and 21% Petit Verdot. Lush, full black cherry finishing with a hint of anise on understated oak.
  1997 Sanel
Bordeaux Blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot. Powerful black cherry and tobacco flavors waiting to explode through the layers of soft tannins just barely containing them.
  1998 Cabernet Sauvignon
Sanel Valley Vineyards. Organically grown fruit. Three years in oak, rich, lush cherries, blackberries and tobacco with tannins that will allow it to lay down for a few years. Give this wine a few minutes to open up in the glass for the fullest rich flavor. Silver Medal Winner
  1999 Petit Verdot
Bells Echo Vineyards. A Bordeaux varietal not often seen on the market. Deep garnet color, plum and violet aromas. Soft and smooth black currant with a typical herb and spice finish. Soft, toasty oak on the finish. Aged three years on French oak. Medals awarded in 2004: GOLD - San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Three medals in 2003: Silver - California State Fair, Bronze - San Francisco International Wine Competition, Bronze - Mendocino Wine Competition
  2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
Mendocino County. Hilltop fruit produced an intense and inky Cabernet. Big explosion of robust cherry and chocolate on soft oak. Huge tannins will allow this wine to lay down for several years. Will age beautifully. A big wine. Medals awarded in 2004: Bronze - Orange County Wine Society. Two Medals in 2003: Silver - Mendocino Wine Competition, Bronze - California State Fair

  2002 Carignane
Hidden Hawk Ranch. The grapes come from over 50 year old vines. Our 2002 Carignane is filled with a burst of juicy fruit on a soft, supple backbone. Just a hint of French oak in the background. A lush wine that feels like velvet in your mouth. An easy drinking wine that will go with just about anything - and is just as great all by itself. Medals in 2004: GOLD - San Francisco International Wine Competition, Silver - Sonoma-Marin Fair
  2002 Merlot
Neese Vineyards. A big, deep rich wine bursting with chrerry, a hint of oak and sweet vanilla. Great color that stains the glass! Everything that a Merlot should be. Will age gracefully but ready to drink even now.
  2002 Petite Sirah
Mendocino County. Once all was said and done - we ended up with only 45 cases of this beauty. Delightful nose of fresh fruit and a gorgeous deep garnet color. Nice mouthful of soft berry and plums with a just a hint of spice. No tannic bite to this sweetheart. She'll seduce you to come back for more!
  2002 Syrah
McDowell Valley Vineyards. 100% Syrah was picked from three different clonal varieties. The nose on this wine is filled with perfume and floral notes. Black cherry, a little herb and roses come across the full palate. A long, lingering finish of very soft oak makes your mouth water. Medals in 2004: Bronze - Sonoma-Marin Fair.
  2003 Late Harvest Zinfandel
Top of the Hill Vineyards. This is a sweet lover's paradise. Five acres produced only 2.7 tons of intense Zinfandel fruit that came in at 30.3 brix. Residual sugar is 11.6%, 15.2% alcohol. Bursting with fruit, a hint of raisin and a soft chocolate finish. Available in 500 ml and 750 ml bottles.
  BigAss Red
Sexy, fun and drinks easy! Now hold it there. We are referring to the wine - not necessarily the woman on the label. A Zinfandel blend that's sure to put a smile on your face.
  Mistero
Red Table Wine - Mendocino County. Mistero means "mystery" in Italian - because we make one every year, you never know what will go into it - and it's a mystery how is always comes out tasting so good! This one is a delightful blend of Zinfandel, Carignane, Cabernet and Petite Sirah. This great table wine goes with everything. Nice fruit, a hint of oak with a pleasing body.
  Port
Sanel Valley Vineyards. Organic grown Zinfandel blended with Germain-Robin brandy. Over 3 years in the cellar. Bold fresh fruit flavor with just a subtle sweetness and a nice warm finish. Not syrupy - more like a heavy wine.
  Recall Red
Red Table Wine - Our tribute to the crazy gubernatorial recall election in California. The label says it all - the state of California is filled with a ballot punch card. A clown's face over Sacramento with the universal "no" slash across it says, "We don't want any clowns in Sacramento!" Considered by many to be a collector's item. Then the good news - it's a great table wine that goes with everything. A blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Slight hint of sweetness makes it a hit with everyone.
  Sunshine
tastes like a Gewurztraminer but easier to say! A crisp, sweet wine with grapefruit and pineapple flavors. Perfect for a summer picnic! 2% residual sugar. A blend of French Colombard, Chardonnay and Muscat. Serve ice cold.
