Fox Run Vineyards

Fox Run Vineyards Situated high on Torrey Ridge overlooking one of the deepest parts of Seneca Lake is Fox Run-a winery with 60 acres of vineyards producing a remarkable range of fine wines. Under the astute ownership of Scott Osborn and Brooks Hale, Fox Run is poised to become one of the great producers of fine vinifera wines in the Finger Lakes region south-east of Rochester, New York. The first grapes were planted in 1984, and the barn, of Dutch style and erected shortly after the Civil War (1867), was restored and converted to an up-to-date winery and tasting room with a spectacular view of the lake after Osborn and Hale took over.

From Watkins Glen, Geneva, Ithaca, or Rochester it's an unhurried, scenic ride along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. We're at 670 Route 14, just 8 miles south of Geneva on the west side of Seneca Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State.

  Arctic Fox
An outstanding blended white wine with vibrant flavors suggesting citrus, apples and spice.
  Cabernet Franc
Classic cool-climate Cab franc nose, suggesting raspberries, roses and dried herbs. Medium bodied and soft, with emphasis on fresh fruit unencumbered by oak.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
On the nose, this wine delivers an enticing mélange of blackberry jam, pomegranate, licorice, sandalwood, olive and sage. Lavish blueberry flavors appearing in the mouth are tempered with smoky notes of cocoa and tar. The finish is richly textured and long; ample fine-grained tannins eventually give way to lingering aromas of raspberries warmed by nutmeg and clove.
Fermentation and aging in stainless steel has resulted in a wine that exhibits uncompromised Chardonnay fruit flavors. Crisp and dry with flavors of apple, pear and citrus.
  Dry Riesling
An almost bone dry Riesling with a fine perfume suggesting apricots, fresh flowers and lime peel.
  Fox Trot Red
Fox Trot Red combines the dark berry aromas of traditional Bordeaux varieties with the unmistakable flavor of concord grapes. This wine is sweet and soft - a real crowd pleaser.
Intense berries and black pepper on the nose lead into a very full-bodied, moderately tannic dry red.
This Meritage represents the best blend of our Bordeaux varieties. An aroma of blackberries and black raspberries is augmented by sweet oak notes. Powerful flavors in the mouth are boosted by fine tannins.
2007 was one of the most memorable years of the present era for red wines in the Finger Lakes. This wine displays a deep complexity in the nose, with aromas suggesting blackberry jam, sweet spices and a touch of fresh mint.
  Pinot Noir
Delicious fresh berry scents on the nose. Vibrant and rich flavors, finishing with a silky softness.
  Reserve Chardonnay
It is hard to compare hot weather, oaky Chardonnays with cool climate Finger Lakes Chardonnays...but we think ours are better! This Chardonnay was aged 9 months in French & American oak producing aromas of apple, peach, vanilla and baking spices complemented by a creamy mouthfeel and bright, citrusy finish.
  Reserve Pinot Noir
Another classic Pinot from our own plantings. An attractive, perfumed nose of violets, raspberries and spice leads into flavors of cherry and sweet vanilla, with soft, velvety tannins
This wine displays ripe and complex aromas suggestive of apricot, pear and lime. Rich and soft with a finely balanced finish.
  Riesling Reserve
  Ruby Port
This sweet fortified wine bursts with blackberry, blueberry and plum aromas. The thrilling mouthfeel is all about velvet and fire.
  Ruby Vixen
A hearty, refreshing blush wine made from red and white grapes. Semi dry with strawberry fruit flavors.
Sable is a soft, accessible dry red displaying aromas of raspberry and dark cherry. Subtle oak flavors add richness and spice notes. Enjoy this wine at cool room temperature.
  Tawny Port
A finely nuanced and exquisitely balanced fortified wine, with aromas of dried fruit, mocha, toffee and roasted nuts.
  Tierce Riesling
Three vineyards, three winemakers, one grape variety, one wine: Tierce. Peter Bell of Fox Run, Johannes Reinhardt of Anthony Road, and Dave Whiting of Red Newt have peered through the mystery of terroir to produce this unique blend. An expression of the synergy of three distinctive winegrowing subregions of Seneca Lake, this Riesling is lean and focused, offering complexities and nuances that make it uniquely Finger Lakes.
