Merriam Vineyards

Merriam Vineyards Owners–Born in New England –Diana in Massachusetts and Peter in Maine– Peter and Diana Merriam have had a love of wine for over twenty years. Little did they think when they met at a New England college that their decision to honeymoon in France would be the beginning of a life long passion for wine. On that first visit to France they started collecting wine, a hobby they have continued, which has resulted in a wine cellar consisting of over 4,000 bottles. They have been back to Bordeaux and Burgundy numerous times as well as other wine growing regions. Their love of wine and wine making culminated in the purchase of a vineyard in the Russian River Valley, which they named Windacre Vineyard after their home in Maine where the Merriams and their children spend their summers. Peter Merriam’s knowledge of wine and his many years experience as a successful wine retailer in Massachusetts made owning a vineyard and making wine under the Merriam label the next step in a long relationship with grapes and wine.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep purple color with currant, blackberry and bittersweet chocolate in the nose. Flavors of dried berries, black licorice and toasty oak on the palate. Abundant mouthfeel and balance throughout, the wine’s finish of blackberry and cassis is long and memorable. Twenty-four months in the barrel have lent this Cabernet refinement and finesse. Drinkable now but will age gracefully for 5-10 years.
