Baron Manfred Vierthaler Winery
|
|
Around 800 A.D. Kaiser "Karl der Grosse" (Emperor Charlemagne) had the first grape vines planted in the area that is today one of the great wine produciong ditricts in the world; the Rheingau of Germany. Almost 1200 years later and 38 generations later, BARON Manfred von Vierthaler, a direct descendent of Charlemagne planted the first Vinifera wind grapes in the Sumner - Orting area of Puyallup Valley. Who knows? this area might be just as famous some day! Many of the castles and palaces along the Rhine River in Charlemagne's day are now in ruins. But not so in Bavaria. Here the Kings and dukes built famous Estates that are still visited by missions of tourists every year. BARON Manfred is also a direct descendent of the Royal Families of Bavaria, the Welfs and Wittelsbachs, and it is in their memories that he built his Grand Chalet on El-Hi Hill and created a Royal Bavarian dining atmosphere that would do the kings of old justice. The menu here includes "game" that was only available to the royalties of old. So come on in, sit back, relax and relive those grand old days when good food, good wine and good company was all that really mattered.
