E. B. Foote Winery

E. B. Foote Winery was founded in 1978 by Eugene Foote, and it is one of the
oldest wineries in Washington State. In 1991 Rich Higginbotham and Sherrill
Miller became the owners and winemakers, and they moved the winery to Burien
in 1999. The grapes are grown in the Columbia Valley in eastern Washington and
are trucked in. The grape hauling, crush, press, fermenting, bottling, labeling,
and sales are done right at the winery in Burien. The winery makes approximately 2,200 cases each year. All the work is done by Rich and Sherrill with the help of their Volunteer Vintners. The winery is open for free tasting and tours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment. Since the winery is small, tasting is done in the winery itself, not in a separate tasting room. The temperature in the winery can be quite cool during winter and spring months, as a wine cellar should be. Both white and red wines may be available for tasting and purchase in the winery gift shop. These award-winning wines may include Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Zinfandel, red blends, and Sweet Sherrill, which is our Riesling equivalent.

Directions
Take the Burien/SeaTac Airport/SR 518 West exit from Interstate 5 or Interstate 405 south. Go to the light at First Avenue South and turn left. At SW 153rd Street, turn right. The winery is halfway up the
block on the left, west of J. B. Carpets in the cellar of the retail strip mall. Access the winery via the fenced stairway. Parking is available near the stairway. Handicapped parking is available in the alley behind the building with direct access to the winery.

2000 Cabernet Sauvignon-RESERVE

2002 Zinfandel

Sweet Sherrill IV ®
Sometimes Bacchus intervenes to transform an accident into an achievement.
Sweet Sherrill is Chardonnay with residual sugar, not by design but by a
serendipitous twist of fate. By popular demand, this wine will be a continued wine
in our winery. It is similar to a Riesling, but with a richer, fruitier flavor and just a touch of oak. A great wine chilled on a sunny day with fruit and crackers.
