Three Sisters Vineyards

Three Sisters Vineyards Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery is a small family farm situated on a hundred and eighty acres in the heart of the Frogtown District in historic Lumpkin County, Georgia. Located eight miles northeast of the site of the first major US gold rush, Dahlonega, the farm's name was inspired by the property's spectacular view of Lumpkin County's Three Sisters Mountain. While no one knows the origin of the name of Three Sisters Mountain, local residents refer to its three distinctive peaks as Wild Cat, McBrayer, and Rattlesnake. Three Sisters Vineyards is proud to be "Dahlonega's First Family Farm Winery."

  2001 Cynthiana
The American winegrape Cynthiana-Norton is a special treat that you won't find everywhere. The Cherokee Indians and Thomas Jefferson grew this grape. It was the most popular winegrape in Georgia over a hundred years ago and now it is back! The 2001 vintage Three Sisters Cynthiana displays a deep rich color with notes of cigar box and caramalized black cherry. Pair it with lamb or game. Try it with dark chocolate and experience the sensation of chocolate covered cherries!
  2002 Pinot Blanc
The 2002 growing season was very good for our Pinot Blanc. Total stainless steel fermentation and aging have produced a crisp wine with star fruit and pink grapefruit with notes of pear and melon. We always suggest this wine is excellent with a roasted turkey, Georgia cheese and spicy chicken dishes.
  Blood Mountain Red
The Walasiyi Wine Company presents traditional southern style wines that have been produced for hundreds of years in the Georgia mountains. These are enjoyable "sweet & fruity" wines that connect with the historical folkways of the GOLD RUSH era of the 1830s. (Pronounced by the settlers as WALL-AH-SEE-AH) "Walasiyi" is a Cherokee word which translated, means "place of many frogs." It is also the original name given to the mountain gap (now called Neels Gap) at Blood Mountain overlooking the farms and vineyards of the Chestatee Valley. Walasiyi Gap divides Lumpkin, Union & Towns Counites. Remember, "Thars WINE In Them Thar Hills!"tm
  Cabernet Franc
Made from a blend of three special lots of Three Sisters Vineyards grown Cabernet Franc, this wine was aged in medium toasted French oak barrels for nearly 12 months. The wine displays Cab Franc's rich spicy notes of white pepper berry, as well as pleasant black cherry flavors.
  Chestatee Red
Our Chestatee Red is a classic blend of European vinifera red winegrapes-Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in French oak barrels and produced off dry. This is forward drinking wine. (Which means you can enjoy it right now without any more bottle aging) We like to enjoy a glass with a homemade pizza or spicy food.(981 cases produced)
  Chestatee Rosé
Chestatee Rosé is a fun and fruity wine with a bit of wine country sophistication. It is blended from eight different “Georgia Grown” French-American & European winegrapes. We've found that most Southern folks savor a sweeter wine to sip before or during a meal. That is exactly what we had in mind when we created Chestatee Rosé. Pair this with picnic meats, cheeses or just enjoy as a cocktail “knee deep in June.”
  Chestatee White
Vidal Blanc is an exciting French American hybrid that produces outstanding and versatile white wines. No snobbery here, Vidal can hold its own with the best of Vinifera. It can be used to make a dry wine or sweet dessert wine. Our Chestatee White is light and fruity and not too sweet. It reminds us of the hearty Chenin Blanc wines of the Loire Valley's Vouvray. This the winegrape grown in Georgia to watch!
  Cynthiana
The Cynthiana wine grape (vitis aestivalis) is an American varietal that was cultivated by the Cherokee Indians and early European settlers. Also named Norton, the Cherokee called it "the summer grape" and used the wood of the vine in their sacred formulas and rituals. Today, many vineyards across North America have revived the cultivation and production of this unique American taste. Three Sisters Vineyards presents this handcrafted Cynthiana wine, aged in French & American oak, as a tribute to this great land. This wine displays notes of cigar box and caramalized black cherry. Pair it with lamb, game or even with a taste of dark chocolate.(162 cases produced)

  Dahlonega Gold
Dahlonega Gold is specially created to celebrate the history and heritage of Dahlonega, Georgia - site of the first US gold rush in 1832. This "late harvest" style dessert wine is made from 100% Vidal Blanc grapes grown by Three Sisters Vineyards. Production is extremely limited. Almost as rare as gold, less than 1000 bottles were made in 2000.

  Vidal Blanc
Our 2003 Vidal Blanc is a crisp white wine with grapefruit-like notes and a finish of granny smith apples. Vidal Blanc is a French American hybrid grape (the varietal was created from the parents ugni blanc and seibel)that many folks are discovering for the first time. Grown in Vouvray and used as a blender with Chenin Blanc in many Vouvray wines...this is a fabulous "country grape" or what we like to tell people...a "po white trash hybrid" to the snobby European Chardonnay! While it has been cultivated on the east coast for many years, Vidal Blanc grows best in the North Georgia Mountains with lush flavors. Many of our wine buddies have told us they can't believe the flavors of this wine from Three Sisters - as few can ripen it to perfection further north. Pair Vidal Blanc with a variety of cheeses or enjoy it with grilled halibut or even roasted turkey. Of course, we think it is really great with Momma's fried chicken!

Norton Wine Review: Three Sisters Vineyards' Cynthiana (Norton) had previously been introduced to us by our brother-in-law as a gift and therefore we traveled to this winery with a certain anticipation of a wine that we had already enjoyed. We were not disappointed at all with our pleasant visit. This husband and wife team were most gracious upon our arrival in answering any and all queries and even gladly sharing with us a barrel tasting of a Norton to come in a year or so (really nice). Their sincere enthusiasm was shared with all customers who made the effort to find their beautiful vineyard setting. I think with a bit of time in the bottle, this will stand up to Virginia’s better Norton examples and will be an interesting contrast to some of the finer Missouri Nortons.
