Concannon Vineyard

Concannon Vineyard Established by James Concannon in 1883, Concannon Vineyard has been producing award-winning wines for 120 years. The winery’s estate vineyards, situated in the Livermore Valley just east of San Francisco Bay, benefit from its unique gravely soil and sunny climate. Concannon’s operations are run from James Concannon’s original home, steps from the winery, and is one of the oldest continuously operated wineries in the country. Internationally known for its Petite Sirah, Concannon was the first winery to produce and bottle this varietal with the 1961 vintage. Today, Concannon carries on the tradition of crafting full flavored, complex, award-winning wines in the Livermore Valley. Come visit our tasting room and sample our new premium Limited Release wines. Tasting Room hours are 11am - 4:30 pm.

Directions
From Highway I-580: Take the N. Livermore Ave. exit. Turn south (right if from the west, and left if from the east). Stay on the same street all the way through town (approx. 3.5 miles). Approximately 150 yards after the street makes a turn to the left you'll see the Concannon family Victorian home and Concannon Vineyard on the left behind a tall hedge. Please use the second entrance.

  Assemblage Red, Livermore Valley
The 2000 Concannon Vineyard, Limited Release Assemblage Red is Concannon’s elegantly layered blend of chalky tannic Cabernet Sauvignon, pleasingly plumy Petit Verdot, and mellow cherry Merlot. This Bordeaux-style wine offers an explosive bouquet of black raspberry and cassis, with flavors of blackberry and blueberry jam on the palate, finishing with elegantly structured tannins and smooth seamless textures.   Cabernet Sauvignon
A Reserve wine that really means it! This is a "big" style Cab, lots of color, tanin, and depth of flavor. Rather age-worthy you know. Enjoy with a flaming T-Bone.
  Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast
Our Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon is full bodied, rich and fruitful. A complex Cabernet with black cherry and vanilla-oak flavors and a rich, smooth finish. Enjoy with a filet mignon or your favorite red meat dish.
  Chardonnay, Central Coast
Our 2003 Concannon Selected Vineyards Chardonnay exhibits chamomile, citrus, apricot, and toasty vanilla oak on the nose. This Chardonnay pleasantly plays with your palate. Tropical swirls of mango, pineapple, crisp citrus, and gooseberry, plus brown sugar, almond, cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel all contribute to a rich, smooth mouthfeel. The finish offers flavors of ripe, baked apple and chalky oak, rounding out the tropical fruit. This Chardonnay is made in the true Burgundy style.
  Heritage Petite Sirah
This big, rich, full-bodied 2000 Concannon Heritage Petite Sirah is a reflection of Concannon’s continued commitment to quality for over a century. Its deep purple color only hints at what this Petite Sirah has to offer. On the nose, jammy, black cherry fruit intermingle with a touch of white pepper and a slight trace of eucalyptus mint. On the palate, this Petite Sirah has nothing petite about it…While it is big, bold, and brawny, the tannins are as sleek and supple as velvet, suggesting that they will hold the power of this wine for decades. A touch of smoke finishes this wine in totally elegant style.
  Merlot, Central Coast
From the bouquet of our Merlot emerges notes of cherry and deep blackberry which promise wonderful flavors as it opens right up on the palate with hints of black pepper, cherry pie, and blackberry jam. The finish of this medium-bodied Merlot offers soft tannins and earthy undertones. An extremely food friendly wine, the finish is supple, and clean. Enjoy with your favorite beef or veal dish, cranberry glazed pork chop, braised leg of lamb.
  Petite Sirah
The essence of Concannon...Petite Sirah...the first winery world-wide to bottle this variety as Petite Sirah with the 1961 vintage...continuing to produce the best after 38 vintages.
  Petite Sirah, Central Coast
This Selected Vineyard Petite Sirah is a full-bodied, rich and intense wine. It exhibits full soft tannins and primary fruit flavors of cherry, dark berry and blueberry. Secondary flavors of chocolate and cassis are complex with hints of toast and creamy oak. Our Petite Sirah is a wine that is delicious now, and also has tremendous potential if aged.
  Pinot Noir, Central Coast
Our 2003 Pinot Noir, Selected Vineyard displays the rich and spicy characteristics of the Central Coast region. The nose has lifted aromas of strawberry, cherry and blueberry. The wine finishes with white pepper, chocolate and creamy oak. Our Pinot Noir Selected Vineyards pairs well with a grilled rack of lamb, prime rib, or salmon.
  Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Livermore Valley
Aromas of sweet berries and spices on nose hint at what will be detected on the palate. Our 2001 Reserve Concannon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is rich with ripe cassis, deep lychee, and plum flavors. This is a Cabernet that shows depth of color, strength of tannin, and immense flavors of dried black currant layered flavors of leather and oak spice. This Cabernet Sauvignon is like velvet in the mouth. Notes of blackberry jam, boysenberry, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, a touch of oak, and tame tannins combine to produce a wonderfully flavorful, soft, and approachable wine.
  Reserve Chardonnay, Edna Valley
Our cool Edna Valley vineyard Chardonnay yields a crisp citrus, peachy quality that elevates to creamy rich wine through barrel fermentation and sur lie aging. Tropical nuances such as pineapple, piña colada, coconut and mango are balanced with crisp clean, tart green apple. This Chardonnay is made in the more complex Chablis style. Wonderful when chilled and enjoyed with grilled tilapia atop buttery linguini.
  Reserve Merlot, Livermore Valley
Showing depth of color, flavor, texture, and tannin, this 2002 Reserve Merlot, Limited Release is a tempting and luscious balance of bright blueberry and perfectly ripened cherry flavors on the nose.
  Reserve Merlot, Livermore Valley
Merlot with an attitude! This bottling shows depth of color, spicy cherry smoky flavors, and firm tannins. The nose is inviting with notes of cassis, cherries, dark cocoa powder, red currant, and orange zest. Bright cherries, cocoa, leather, vanilla, and a touch of oak present themselves on the palate. Very approachable and ready to drink now. Merlot for serious red wine drinkers. Enjoy with sirloin steak and creamy Yukon Gold mashed potatoes.
  Reserve Pinot Noir, Edna Valley
Deliciously medium-bodied, the 2002 Reserve Pinot Noir, Limited Release is plummy color. While intense and jammy on the nose, this Pinot maintains a seamless sense of elegance on the palate with luscious flavors of ripe Bing cherries and crushed raspberries. Fruit-forward and bursting with flavor this Pinot has a delectably silky, smooth finish.
  Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, Monterey
Our Reserve Sauvignon Blanc hails from cool Monterey. A crisp bouquet reveals grapefruit, and lemongrass. The color and taste of pure sunshine, this Sauvignon Blanc is Wildly refreshing with notes of gooseberry and grapefruit, coupled with creamy lemon custard on the palate. Barrel fermentation and oak aging have intensified the fruit flavors while adding spicy notes. This is a summer patio sipper. Enjoy this Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc at your next brunch with Eggs Benedict or hollandaise-smothered filet of sole.
  Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, Monterey
This is a real treat in Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is crafted in a crisp new-world style, displaying wonderful citrus flavors, fresh green apple and mineral notes. Our Reserve has a refined structure. Showing hints of gooseberry and grassy characters. Enjoy this wine with dishes like baked crab cakes or herb roasted chicken. Very tasty.
  Reserve Syrah, Livermore Valley
Concannon’s Rhone-style wines are always a hit with wine lovers, and this wine won’t disappoint. The 2002 is deeply flavored with rich blackberry and dark cherry notes. These intense fruit characters are balanced with hints of black pepper spices and gamey notes. Aging in carefully selected French and American barrels for a minimum of 16 months has resulted in a wine with elegant tannins, a hint of smoke and a long spicy finish. Enjoy this wine with dishes like grilled skirt steak or herbed rubbed veal chops
  Reserve Syrah, Livermore Valley
Ruby slipper appealing at first glance, sweet spice markedly dominates this 2001 Reserve, Limited Release Syrah. Aged in new French and American oak, our 2001 Reserve, Limited Release Syrah has a deep smoky character with white pepper and allspice notes not only on the nose, but also on the palate and finish. A stunning Syrah, this wine’s fruit delivers wonderfully deep and juicy blackberries, black toast, vanilla, and black cherries on the palate, with flavors of butter, currants and a touch of mocha and molasses on the finish. The 2003 Concannon Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Selected Vineyard is our lightbodied, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, exhibiting melon, pear, and peach on the nose. This Sauvignon Blanc is extremely fruit-forward with grapefruit, fresh lemongrass, and citrus flavors on the palate, and has a long, clean, crisp, refreshing finish. Enjoy with chicken salads or your favorite seafood dish.
  Stampmaker's™ Red, Livermore Valley
A distinguished, full-bodied Rhone-style wine, the 2002 Stampmaker’s Red, Limited Release exhibits ripe, red currant and smoky molasses character on the nose, continuing with flavors of plum, ripe cherries, and rose on the palate. With lively acidity, mellow fruit and firm tannins, the wine finishes with a hint of toasted walnut and spice flavors of cinnamon and cardamom.
  Stampmaker's™ White, Livermore Valley
Stampmaker’s White is a special blend of the traditional Rhone varietals Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. The nose is floral, clean, and crisp, with notes of kiwi, toast, lime and refreshing acidity. With outstanding balance, the characteristics of steely peach and lemon-drop citrus combine, with a smooth finish exhibiting a bit of olive oil and smoke. Enjoy with skewered chicken draped in peanut sauce.
  Syrah, Central Coast
This full-bodied Syrah exhibits a classic, inky ruby-purple color, and bursts with flavors of blackberry jam, chocolate, tobacco, and black pepper spice on the nose. The 2002 Concannon Syrah Selected Vineyards also has dense fruit flavors of molasses brown sugar, sweet melted butter, red berries, and earthy leather oak on the palate. With a lush, lingering finish, the French and American oak gives this wine qualities of sweet, coconut and vanilla overtones, with a silky, smooth, and lingering finish.
